Goddamit, every time I have tried to update in the last couple of weeks, something has happened to interrupt me mid-flow!
So Paris was absolutely fabulous, if not a little damp! It rained all weekend apart from about 5pm on the Sunday when we were about to board a plane to come home but that didnt stop us!
We arrived on Friday afternoon, unpacked and headed down to the nearest bar. In the evening we went to Bastille and had a lovely dinner in a little secluded restaurant we found, then we just walked around for about an hour taking in the sights before plonking ourselves down outside the Irish bar and tucking into pints of Fosters.
Saturday morning we got up early and enjoyed about 5 minutes of sunshine as we watched in amazement at the traffic around the Champs Elysees and the Arc de Triumph! We then strolled down to the Eiffel Tower (I never realised it was brown!) and walked (yes walked!) up to the second floor, where the heavens opened and we got soaked waiting to get the lift up to the third floor. Still it was worth the wait just to see Ps face drop as the lift went up and he felt a little on the unsafe side!!!
After the Tower we braved the elements to visit Notre Dame and the Louvre (despite signs for the Mona Lisa we managed to miss it!) and then we headed back to the hotel to dry off, have a kip and get ourselves tarted up to go out again. We had a fabulous dinner on a riverboat overlooking the Louvre, then as we walked across the bridge (well actually I tottered coz I was trying not to get my heels stuck in the slats!) I stopped to take some picturesque shots, P asked me to marry him!
Yes you read right, he asked me to marry him!
Although we had discussed getting engaged, he had told me that the ring that I liked had to be ordered for my size and wouldnt be ready for a few weeks. The original plan was that he was going to propose properly on holiday (we go to Greece in 3 weeks time) but he decided to surprise me in Paris.
So there was I, open mouthed, staring at the ring while P said givemeyourfingergivemeyourfinger in fear that he was going to drop the ring through the slats in the bridge and we would end up watching it float away down the River Seine!
Of course I said yes, so once we got home we headed over to my parents to tell them the news. On the way over I sat in the car declaring I feel sick, I want to throw up, actually I need a drink, no Im going to throw up!! but they were really cool about it. Mum said awwwwww and apparently wasnt surprised, my dad (who is a man of few words anyway) said Congratulations, good luck to you both!. I think by far though, the funniest reaction has to be from my bro who said Shut up, no, fffffffuck off as he was just totally totally stunned (he forgets I'm not 12 anymore!)
So theres my news. Im becoming a respectable woman (who would have ever thought it) and will be buying a house with P next year, and getting married in 2005!
